Step away

Tätä art journal -sivua lähdin vain tekemään sen kummemmin miettimättä, mitä teen (juu-u, joskus ihan oikeasti mietin etukäteen, mitä teen... ;D ). Lisäilin vain väriä sivulle - yllättäen tuota lempparikomboa, keltaista ja pinkkiä - maalia ja spray inkiä, neocolor II:a ja musteita. Suoraan sivulle, sabluunan läpi, roiskien ja leimaten. Lisäilin vähän washiteippiä ja leimakuvaa (Zettiology), valkoista kynää, mustaa kynää ja Prismacoloreita. Lopuksi vähän tekstiä aakkosleimoilla. Ehkä tämä sivu voi toimia muistutuksena itselle, että sieltä mukavuusalueelta tosiaan voisi joskus hilata itsensä pois, sen ulkopuolella saattaa olla hauskempaa ;)

This art journal page just happened, I didn't really think what I was doing (yes, I know it's surprising but sometimes I actually do think beforehand what I'll do... ;D ). I just started adding colour to the page, pink and yellow of course, no surprises there as it's my favourite combination at the moment. I added paint, I added spray inks, I added Neocolor II, I added inks. Straight to the page, through a stencil, as splatters, with rubber stamps. I added some washi tape and a stamped image (Zettiology), some white pen, some black pen and some Prismacolor pencils. Then some journaling with alphabet stamps. Maybe this page serves as a note to myself to sometimes drag myself out of my comfort zone, things might just be a bit more fun that way ;)

Kukkakortti - Flower card

Tein taas pikaisen kortin tällä Penny Blackin ihanalla leimalla. Väritin leimakuvan Prismoilla ja lisäsin kukkien keskustoihin Sticklesiä. Leimakuvan kiinnitin parille kartongille ja tarrapaloilla korttipohjaan, johon olin kiinnittänyt October Afternoonin paperia. Koristeina tuollaista harsomaista nauhaa, scrapper's flossia ja nappi. Perussettiä siis taas.

I made another card with this gorgeous rubber stamp ('Scented Message') by Penny Black. I coloured the stamped image with Prismacolor pencils and added some Stickles to the centres of the flowers. I mounted the image on two cardstocks and attached the whole thing on the card base with foam pads. The paper I used is by October Afternoon. As embellies there are the usual suspects: some ribbon, some scrapper's floss and a button. So, a very basic card but I hope it works :)

Hän on kolme! - He is three!

...ollut jo hetken aikaa kylläkin, nimittäin meidän ihana esikoisemme täytti tuossa huhtikuun loppupuolella kokonaiset kolme vuotta (tähän kohtaan saa lisätä järkyttynyttä päivittelyä ajan kulumisesta... ja paljon!). Tein hänelle kolme korttia, yhden meiltä ja loput isovanhempien ja isoisoäidin annettavaksi. Ensin esittelyyn meiltä saatu kortti, jossa tietenkin on auto - mitä muuta pienen automiehen kortissa voi olla? Leima on siis Papermanian ja Distress Markereilla väritetty. Säteet taustalla on FinnStamperin leima, tekstileima Paperinauhan setistä ja paperit My Mind's Eyeta. Valmiin kortin koristuksiin ei kuulunut tuo kuvassa näkyvä post-it -lappu, se peittää pojan nimeä, jonka korttiin leimasin ;)

...and has been for a while already. Our gorgeous big boy, our firstborn, turned three at the end of April (and yes, I am still shocked - how can he be three already?!). I made three cards for his birthday, one from us and one for his grandparents to give to him and one for his greatgrandmother to give to him. This first card is from us and, of course, it has a car on it - he is such an enthusiastic carlover :) The stamped image is by Papermania and I coloured it with Distress Markers. The ray stamp behind the car is by FinnStamper and the sentiment says something like 'huuuge congrats'. And the piece of a post-it note that you can see on the photo is not an embellishment, it just covers his name that I stamped there and that I'm not willing to share (yes, I'm overcautious...).

Ja tältä kortti näyttää, kun se avataan. Kyseessä on siis ns. spiral pop-up -kortti, johon tein tuon spiraalin Sizzixin ruusustanssilla ja kiinnitin siihen kolme pientä autoleimakuvaa.

And this is what the card looks like when it's opened. It's a spiral pop-up card. I made the spiral with a Sizzix rose die and attached three little stamped cars to it.

Tämän kortin pojalle antoivat isovanhemmat. Tuon koalaleiman valmistajaa en tiedä, väritin sen kuitenkin Distress Markereilla. Tekstileima taitaa sekin olla Paperinauhan setistä ja paperit vanhoja October Afternooneja. Lisänä nappi.

This card was given to him by his grandparents. I stamped the three koalas (I don't know the manufacturer of the stamp, sorry) and coloured them with Distress Markers. The papers are by October Afternoon and the sentiment says something like 'have an amazingly fun birthday'.

Viimeisenä näytille isoisoäidin antama kortti (pojalla ja isoisoäidillään on muuten 90 vuotta ikäeroa :) ). Leimakuva on Art Journeyn, paperit Authentiqueta, lisänä numero Tim Holtzin stanssilla stanssattuna ja tuollaiset metallipidikkeet.

And lastly, this card was given to our son by his greatgrandmother (the age difference between her and our son is whopping 90 years! :) ). The rubber stamp I used is by Art Journey, it's from the Grunge set. The papers are by Authentique, the number is die cut with a Tim Holtz die and as embellies there are a couple of brads and those metal 'holders' (don't know what they're called really).

When your heart is on fire

Viime aikoina on tullut tehtyä enemmän art journal -sivuja (-sotkuja..?! ;D ) kuin kortteja, jotenkin on ollut hauskempaa nyt vain tehdä huolettomammin kuin miettiä turhan tarkkaan (kortteja siis yleensä mietin tarkempaan ja mittaan papereita millilleen, nämä sivut on jotain ihan muuta... ;D). Ihan kaikkia sivuja en ole vielä ehtinyt näyttää mutta tässä tulee taas yksi. Tämä alkoi keltaisesta maalista ja pinkistä spray inkistä, jotka olin sivuun pyyhkinyt joitain muita sivuja tehdessäni. Siihen sitten lisäilin hieman mustetta sabluunan läpi, washiteippejä, leimailua (Dina Wakleyn sydän, Suzi Blun tyttö, Wycinankan sydänrivi ja Dylusionsin boordi, Papertrey Inkin aakkoset), paljettia jne. Tuon typsyn leimasin vanhaan kirjan sivuun, teksti tuo hauskasti 'kerrosta' tyttöön. Tuo journaling-osa tuli vähän "pakosta" tuohon, näin nimittäin pöydälläni vanhan lappusen, johon olin sen kirjoittanut jostain muistiin. Heti perään näin saman tekstin mainoksessa eräässä lehdessä ja ajattelin, että on kai sitten parempi laittaa se tähän sivuunkin, kun se nyt joka puolelta esiin hyppii :) (Teksti näkynee hieman huonosti tuosta kuvasta, siinä siis lukee "You light up the world when your heart is on fire").

Recently, I've been art journaling more than making cards, for some reason at the moment I enjoy the freedom of making a page much more than the exactness of making a card (usually I think much more when I make a card and I cut papers etc very carefully - all that goes out of the window when I'm making an art journal page :D ). I haven't had a chance to blog all my pages yet but here's one I made yesterday. This page started with the yellow paint and the pink spray ink that were on the page, I had mopped them up on this page while making another. Then I just added some ink through a stencil, some washi tapes, some rubber stamping (a Dina Wakley heart, a Suzi Blu girl, a row of hearts by Wycinanka, a Dylusions border, Papertrey Ink alphabet), a sequin, etc. I stamped the girl on an old book page and let the words show through the colouring, I think it adds a nice layer to her. The journaling part was a funny coincidence: I had an old piece of paper on my desk with that quote on it, and right after seeing it I looked through a magazine and noticed an ad with the same quote on it! So I thought it might be best if I just used it as my journaling :) (In case you can't see it clearly, it says 'You light up the world when your heart is on fire').

Words

The Artistic Stamperin toukokuun haaste on 'words' ja tein siihen tämän art journal -sivun. Tähän meni taas vähän kaikkea, struktuuripastaa, akryylimaaleja, gessoa, spray inkejä, washiteippejä, leimoja (The Artistic Stamper, Zettiology), paljetteja jne. Tuo teksti on lainaus Englantilaisesta potilaasta.

The May challenge over at the Artistic Stamper blog is 'words' and I made this art journal page for it. Once again, I used a bit of everything to make this page: modeling paste, acrylic paints, gesso, spray inks, washi tapes, rubber stamps (The Artistic Stamper, Zettiology), sequins, etc. The journaling is a quote from Michael Ondaatje's 'The English Patient'.

Rakkautta ensi silmäyksellä - Love at first sight

Sitä se oli, rakkautta ensi silmäyksellä, kun näin tämän leimasimen. En osaa edes sanoa, mikä tästä tekee erityisen kauniin, mutta olen korviani myöten ihastunut tähän kukkaan :) Tämä on siis Hero Artsin Etched Flower with Stem ja se on ihana :) Tein samoin tein kaksi samanlaista korttia tällä leimalla, vaihdoin vain värit. Kukat väritin Prismacoloreilla ja kiinnitin leimakuvan ensin kartonkiin ja sitten tarrapaloilla korttipohjaan, jonka olin leimannut ensin Hero Artsin Looped Flower Pattern -taustaleimalla. Lisäksi vain pari timanttia.

Yes, it was love at first sight when I first saw this stamp. It's just one of the prettiest flower stamps I've seen for a long time and I'm totally in love with it :) It's called 'Etched Flower with Stem' and it's by Hero Arts. I decided to make two identical cards with this stamp, just in different colours. I coloured the stamped images with Prismacolour pencils and attached them to cardstock and then to the card base with foam adhesives. The card base is stamped with 'Looped Flower Pattern' by Hero Arts. As embellies, there are a couple of rhinestones.

Pitsiä! - Lace!

Vetäkääs liput salkoon ja tervaristi seinään: tässä kortissa on pitsiä! Sellaista ihmettä ei olekaan nähty tässä blogissa yli vuoteen (kyllä, tarkistin asian ja viimeksi olen käyttänyt pitsiä kortissa, jonka bloggasin viime vuoden maaliskuussa :D ). Jo oli aikakin siis! Pitsi hakeutui seuraksi tälle ihanalle Penny Blackin leimalle, johon ihastuin täyttä päätä, kun näin SannaS:n ihanan tagin. Jotenkin hassusti tuo leima sitten löysi tiensä meille... ;D (Kiitos vain, SannaS... ;) ) Leimasin tuon leiman varsin psykedeelisen kuviopaperin nurjalle puolelle, joka oli mukavan neutraalin värinen (ja oikeasti se on enemmän vaaleanruskea kuin kuvassa ja sopii siis paremmin korttipohjaan väriltään kuin mitä kuva antaa ymmärtää) ja väritin sen Prismacoloreilla. Korttipohjan leimasin Hero Artsin Graph Backgroundilla ja HA Shadow Inkillä, leimakuvan kiinnitin ensin siniselle kartongille ja sitten tarrapaloilla korttipohjaan. Lisukkeina sitä pitsiä ja jokunen timantti.

Be surprised, be very surprised: there's lace on this card! That's something that hasn't been seen in this blog for over a year (yes, I checked and the last time I blogged a card with lace on it was March last year :D ). So it was about time to use lace again, don't you think? The lace accompanies this beautiful stamped image by Penny Black called 'Scented Message'. I totally fell for it after I saw this gorgeous tag made by my bloggy friend SannaS, after that I just had to have the stamp... ;) I stamped the image on the 'wrong' side of a patterned paper that was a bit too busy for my liking, this wrong side looks far better to me (and in real life it's a bit more brownish than it looks in the piccie and it suits the kraft cardstock far better than you'd guess from the piccie). I coloured the image with Prismacolour pencils. I stamped the kraft cardbase with Hero Arts Graph Background stamp and Hero Arts Shadow Ink and attached the stamped image to it with foam adhesive after I had attached it to blue cardstock. As embellies there's the said lace and some rhinestones.
